Summer Fun and Semester Goals

This summer has been unlike the previous ones as I started my new job and got to spend time with friends and family who I haven’t seen in a while. This summer break was much needed after a long and busy academic year. I began my break with a visit to the Ice Cream Museum in LA with my cousins and sisters which was very refreshing and super cute. I got to spend the day out in LA and explored a few hidden spots! While I had my one week break to rest I took some time to start a few shows on Netflix that I have been holding back on for some time now. I also had the chance to go to a 626 Night market this year with a few brothers and it was totally worth not eating all day for the variety of foods I got to try.

Besides these few things this summer I got hired as an Employer Relations Specialist at the Mihaylo Career Services on campus and for the past two months I have had the opportunity to grow and learn from the position. Through this position I have been able to strengthen my network with employers and the faculty and staff on campus. My skills from Vice President - Professional Activities were transferrable into this position which made the transition smooth and nice. While working at my new job I have also been doing some internship search for the upcoming academic school year. With the staff in the office it has been very helpful as I have learned more about professionalism on paper and in person. With the active search for an internship I really hope I am able to receive an opportunity to be a HR intern in this upcoming year.

This fall semester as Vice President - Scholarships & Awards I really want to take the time to focus on all the achievements our brothers and our chapter have accomplished and will continue to accomplish. Many times we forget to acknowledge the small achievements that may have taken work and effort that deserve a small “good job” or a “congratulations” to show you that someone cares. The past few semesters have been a work in progress and now it is time to move forward and show what the final product has become. This upcoming semester I really hope to put forth more opportunities for brothers to apply and win scholarships whether it be nationally through Delta Sigma Pi or locally from CSUF. I want to be there for every brother who feels like they’ve ran a marathon they thought they wouldn’t finish but did. I want to be there for every brother who felt like their hard work never paid off because in the end it really did. I want to be there for every brother to tell them that by waking up everyday and making it to school, work, or anywhere with their presence is much appreciated and valued. Our brothers put in so much time and effort to make Lambda Sigma the chapter it is and I couldn’t be more thankful and proud be a Deltasig.

Along with my summer and upcoming goals I really hope everyone has had a restful summer and look forward to starting Fall 2017 with a fresh new start!
