Recruitment Countdown Day 6: Emily Phu

1. Why did you join Delta Sigma Pi and what have you gained from this organization?

As a new transfer student to CSUF, I wanted to meet new people and be more involved in school. I have always wanted to join an organization with like minded people and Delta Sigma Pi offered that for me. As cliche as it sounds, joining Delta Sigma Pi has changed my life. I was able to not only make life long friends, but also grow professionally. Although I have only been in the chapter for about a year, I have been able to learn more about the importance of networking and how it can get you further than you think. It pays to know people!!

2. Tell me about your topic and why you’re passionate about it. How has it impacted you? What made you get into it? Tell us anything you want about it!

For my topic, I chose to talk about painting. Growing up, I have always been into arts and craft. I remember loving the days in preschool and kindergarten where we able to paint, color, and draw whatever we wanted. Painting allows me

to get creative and relax. Ever since I started college, I no longer had time to paint. The pandemic slowed things down for me and I was able to pick up painting again. One of my favorite things to do is go to the park and have a painting date with my friends.

3. Any advice for prospects?

One piece of advice I have for prospects is to enjoy your time pledging as you will be able to meet new people and maybe even make lifelong friends. Be yourself and be open to all the opportunities. Growth can feel uncomfortable but it’s absolutely necessary!
